CNC Machine Operator

Flow-Mon is a successful Harrogate based manufacturer of specialist flow instruments. We are a small family owned business looking for a full time enthusiastic and proactive CNC Machine Operator.

Main Duties:

Produces machined parts by setting up, operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records and maintaining equipment and supplies. Assisting with other tasks designated by the Factory Manager.

Responsibilities:

· Under the direction of a supervisor and/or experienced machinist, responsible for quality parts produced on CNC machines such as, but not limited, to lathes and milling machines in a timely, safe and efficient manner.

· Operate, perform set-up changes and first article inspections on production runs utilizing CNC Machines.

· Load parts utilizing overhead lifting equipment, proving tapes, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.

· Identify problems before production runs, then start and observe machine operation to detect any other malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions, and adjust machine controls or control media as required.

· Read blueprints, precision measuring instruments and job orders to determine dimensions, tolerance and tooling requirements.

· Maintain knowledge of dimensions and tolerances for tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut and cutting tools to be used.

· Prove out new programs and make simple edits of NC programs on at least one or more numerically controlled machines.

· Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.

· Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

· Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

· 3 years CNC experience desirable

· Experience with reading part drawings is preferred

· Familiarity with measurement tools is preferred

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs is preferred

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £22,000+ depending on experience.

Offshore Fire Suppression System

Bespoke bronze sight indicators

Flow-Mon were awarded this project to provide several specialist bronze sight indicators for use within an offshore fire fighting system. The large 4 & 6 inch units were cast and manufactured from Grade CC333G Bronze with flap indicators. The small spinner variants were machined from solid bar to meet the customers specific material and system requirements.

We are a small family owned business looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Purchase/Supply Clerk to join our busy team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established business based in central Harrogate.

Purchase/Supply Clerk

Main Duties:

Purchasing and maintaining sufficient stock to fulfil the factory production schedule against projected targets. Manage suppliers to ensure the effective supply of materiel and services delivered are correct to specification, schedule and at minimum cost. Maintain accurate records and provide material traceability from purchase order to invoice.

You will report to the Commercial Manager and will receive on the job training as required. Your time will be split between the physical aspect of stock management in the factory and the administrative work in the office required in support. This will be a busy and varied role with the opportunity to develop in line with the growth of the Company.

Responsibilities:

• Raise purchase orders for materials, parts and tooling in a timely and accurate manner.

• Maintain stock levels and inventory management.

• Supplier relationship management.

• Providing supporting documentation in support of all orders.

• Maintaining stock ledgers including stock projection & forecast, order history.

• Issue demand forecasts to suppliers to support supply projection plan.

• Record and report non-conforming parts in accordance with the quality management system.

• Assisting with other Company and Group related activity as and when required.

Skills/Experience:

• Good communication and written skills.

• Competent with MS Office, excellent Excel skills

• Able to integrate well into a team and work independently.

• A strong work ethic and a positive/pro-active attitude to work.

• Ability to prioritise and organise/manage several tasks concurrently.

• Knowledge of Sage 50 Cloud is beneficial but not essential.

• Previous experience in a supply chain / logistics environment would be advantageous however, training may be provided for the right candidate. (CIPS procurement and supply)

• Elements of this job are physically demanding (loading/unloading material) and the applicant must be capable of manual handling tasks.

Hours: Full time (39 hours). Monday to Thursday 0730 – 1630, Friday 0730 – 1230.

Salary: £18,000 - £22,000+ (pro-rata) negotiable depending on experience.

Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays.

Flow-mon Turbine Meter

We're proud to feature our new range of Turbine Flowmeters, which extends our range further making Flow-mon the increasingly go-to manufacturer for flow related products.

The Flow-mon range of Turbine Flowmeters meet the demand of most liquid measurement applications.

Consisting of three component assemblies, fitted inside a stainless steel body (locked with retaining rings), which has a Pick Up (variable reluctance sensor) fitted and come in a range of threaded, flanged and tri clamp styles.

The Rotor and shaft assembly (1 off) which is mounted in sleeve bearings, fitted inside Support assemblies (2 off) is turned by the kinetic energy of the flowing guild at an angular velocity, which in the linear range of the Flowmeter is proportional to the mean axial velocity of the fluid.

The Rotor blades sweep out the full bore of the flowmeter except for a small tip clearance space. As the blade tips pass the magnetic Pick Up (through the housing wall) they initiate pulse. Flow rate is determined by the frequency of the pulses and Totalised Flow is obtained by summation of the pulsing electrical signal.

COVID-19 Update - Business as Usual

These are challenging times for all businesses and we at Flow-Mon are taking the threat from COVID-19 very seriously.

We have implemented all possible measures to protect our staff in line with Government guidelines and monitoring the health of our teams on a daily basis. We have made arrangements for home working for office staff and implemented measures for our factory staff such as staggered shift work, maintaining a greater distance between employees and various hygiene measures.

Despite this difficult time we are here to support you and plan to continue production as usual; currently there are no delivery delays or postponements.

The situation is fluid and the UK Government are issuing updates daily with potentially more stringent measures to follow. We will update you with any significant changes but, you are very welcome to contact us at any time.

New Commercial Manager is Appointed

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew (Matt) Barlow as our new Commercial Manager.

Matt joins Flow-Mon following a thirty year career with the British Army, where he was formerly Deputy Chief of Staff within the HQ Aviation Reconnaissance Force. He brings to us a track record in senior management, project delivery and change management in the most demanding environments worldwide. This experience will be invaluable to us as we continue to improve the quality and value we brings to our customers.

Commenting on his appointment, Matt said: "I look forward to bringing the skills and knowledge I have gained in my career to Flow-Mon and doing everything I can to help a great group of people become an even greater business. I am also excited to be meeting many of our existing distributors at our forthcoming conference and getting out and meeting as many others as possible in the coming months."
